Lower School Academics

In the Lower School of Andrews Osborne Academy, your child’s cognitive, creative, social and physical abilities will develop and thrive in our loving, supportive, and warm environment. A safe, yet challenging learning environment is created through family involvement, collaboration, and intimate class settings where teachers get to know each student, how they learn, and what interests and motivates them.
Our academically challenging program addresses different learning styles while fostering critical thinking and developing problem solving skills. Our students acquire cognitive skills and learn to take risks, work cooperatively and make sound choices.

The classroom environment encourages self-reliance and independence. Students develop the confidence to approach new situations and challenges because teachers instill in them a sense of responsibility. Each child feels comfortable with learning while being challenged to progress to new levels.

The core curriculum in the Lower School includes literature-based reading, language arts, writing, math, social studies, science, foreign language, physical education, music, visual arts, and technology instruction.

    In Lower School, We Believe

    • All of our students, even our youngest students, can learn to listen and speak with purpose.
    • All children can think creatively by nature, which we encourage through exploration, inquiry, problem-solving, and invention.
    • Understanding the world, locally and globally, and learning to see it from various perspectives are at the heart of developing our students’ sense of themselves as global citizens, teaching them to think deeply and critically about the world around them.
